Abbott Ireland Diabetes Care Division Donegal

The Abbott Diabetes Care division based in Donegal Town manufactures FreeStyle blood glucose test strips and FreeStyle Sensors for use in diabetes management. Among Abbott Diabetes Care leading brands are the FreeStyle Precision, FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Libre system.

Primary Function :

The Senior Purchasing Specialist is a senior position in the Supply Chain department, primarily responsible for the management of purchasing systems in the Donegal plant, including data accuracy and entry, contributing to the delivery of safe and effective products that meet customer needs whilst maintaining compliance.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the acquisition, scheduling and delivery of material and/or finished goods based on MRP output.

  • Responsible for the acquisition of material, supplies, equipment and services based on electronic purchase requisitions.

  • Responsible for ensuring all purchases are properly authorized.

  • Responsible for Purchase Order data accuracy.

  • Ensure all Supply Chain processes comply with established requirements.

  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of Supply Chain systems and processes.

  • Contributing to the continued improvement of the plants Environmental, Health and Safety performance.

Education and Years Experience:

  • Level 7 qualification or above

  • Five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.

Accountability/Scope:

  • Reports to Supply Chain Manager.

  • Scope of decision making pertains primarily to the administrative aspects of the purchasing activities in Donegal.
