We are seeking a number of outstanding early and mid-career researchers to join us in taking Edith Cowan University (ECU) to the next level - people with a passion for both developing and leading their research and bringing this into their teaching and learning activities with a Vice-Chancellor’s (VC’s) Research Fellowship.
These roles will transition into tenured academic roles within our university at the end of the three years, subject to performance.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Vice-Chancellor's Research Fellowships are 3-year research-focused positions that include a small teaching allocation. Subject to performance, these roles will transition into tenured academic roles within our university at the end of the three years. The 2023 round of the Vice-Chancellor’s Research Fellowships is restricted to applicants in specific areas of academic focus. To be successful in this role, relative to your career stage, you will demonstrate high achievement in one of the following recruitment areas:
Curriculum and Pedagogy
Cyber Security
Ecology
Engineering (Civil, Electrical and Mechanical)
Human Resources and Industrial Relations
Neurosciences
Nursing and Midwifery
Nutrition and Dietetics
Oncology and Carcinogenesis
Performing Arts
Social Sciences

ABOUT YOU
You will demonstrate personal attributes that are congruent with the University’s values of Integrity, Respect, Rational Inquiry, Personal Excellence and Courage. In addition to conducting research in one of the relevant recruitment areas, as a Vice-Chancellors Research Fellow you will have:
Relevant Australian work rights.
Been awarded your PhD in an appropriate field at the time of application.
Been awarded your PhD within the last ten years (taking into consideration career breaks).
A strong publication track record, producing high quality research outputs with evidence of increasing independence and scholarly impact.
Evidence of success in attracting grant funding.
Strong connections with academic collaborators across a range of institutions, especially nationally or internationally.
Evidence of your ability to engage with research end-users such as industry, community, and government, to drive research collaborations that lead to impact from your research.
Experience in supervising or mentoring HDR candidates and/or other research students and contributing to a team’s research culture.
Some prior experience in teaching in a university setting.
BENEFITS & REMUNERATION
These full-time, fixed term positions attract a salary of $105,832 - $125,043 (Level B) or $128,880 - $148,089 (Level C) plus 17% University superannuation contribution. Appointees will be provided with a research support package that includes a fully funded PhD stipend, travel support and access to university-wide project funding schemes.
Appointees who continue to demonstrate research excellence and growth over the 3-year appointment will be considered for ongoing tenure at ECU.
